Alastair is currently Chief Engineer Tunnelling for Jacobs in Europe and a civil engineer with more than 34 years of tunnel engineering experience. His experience covers all aspects of tunnel design, tunnel assessments, permitting, risk management as well as managing projects from conception to design and through to construction supervision. He has worked on numerous tunnelling projects both in the UK and overseas and provided expert advice on many tunnel projects. Alastair’s broad experience includes large tunnel design and construction, pipe jacking and micro-tunnel design and construction; segmental lining design, risk management for tunnel projects, settlement and building damage assessments, design and 3rd party permitting for tunnelled and micro-tunnelled schemes, rail tunnel inspections and refurbishments, tunnel maintenance and repairs. Alastair actively contributes to the wider tunnel industry and is currently Vice Chair of The British Tunnelling Society Committee.
