Geologist
British Geological Survey

Dr Romesh Palamakumbura is a geologist at the British Geologist Survey with experience in fault and fracture systems from outcrop to regional scale, particularly focussed on understanding how fault and fracture networks impact on groundwater models and engineering projects. He has experience in fault characterisation and fracture mapping in basement rocks in India, Sweden, Africa and NW Scotland, and has developed new digital methods for analysing fracture networks. His work has contributed to reducing risk for major infrastructure projects; understanding the impact of glacial erosion on nuclear waste repositories and contributing to groundwater suitability mapping in Africa.
