Ponciano graduated from the Madrid Polytechnic University with a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering and holds a Master’s in Management from the University of London. His career has developed in Spain, Switzerland and UK in major civil engineering projects. Since moving to the UK in 2011, Ponciano has worked on the construction of major tunnelling projects in urban areas where he has proven his ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders in challenging engineering environments.
Ponciano began his UK portfolio by working on Crossrail's Western Running Tunnels and Station Caverns project. As Tunnel Agent he successfully lead the completion of the Tottenham Court Road (TCR) tunnelling works, the first of the Crossrail network to be finished, then moved to Bond Street station (BOS) to manage the underground works to completion.
Currently a Section Project Manager in the Thames Tideway Tunnel Central section contract, he manages the construction of Kirtling Street and Heathwall worksites. These works include the safe delivery of construction techniques and bespoke solutions for underground construction, involving shaft sinking, diaphragm walling, piling, sprayed concrete linings (SCL), tunnel boring machines, and marine works in the River Thames.
