Richard is the Engineering Director for J Murphy & Sons. A Chartered Civil Engineer, Fellow of the ICE, and BTS Committee member, he has 28 years of experience in the construction industry, as a contractor, consultant, and client. He leads the engineering function for Murphy with overall responsibility for all engineering matters including design, design management, site engineering, temporary works, digital engineering, and innovation, as well as tunnelling input across all sectors and regions. The vast majority of his technical experience has been in tunnelling on projects such as the Jubilee Line Extension, The Channel Tunnel Rail Link, the Lee Tunnel, Tideway, and more recently LPT2 and LTC.
